Opposing doors allow the activities of the markets and restaurants to extend to outdoor areas, hence circulation will continue from indoor area to outdoor area as well.

CIRCULATION

These arrows show how users of the building might circulate around the building. A series of staircases at north side provide entering point for potential users. Each indoor space has opposite doors to allow free circulation

ACCESSIBLE DESIGN

Where there are stairs, there are slopes, which makes it easier for people in wheelchair and mother with baby trolley to use the building

 

Users of the building

Slope of the stairs is designed to be as small as possible so  that the stairs can be used as a place for gathering and seating

The water tank is exposed for educational purpose, children and their parents are likely to gather here

Part of the playground is covered with growing medium, children will gather here to some gardening activities

Benches outside the restaurant and market are here to serve their users, people can have a rest on these street furnitures after shopping

MEETING POINTS

This diagram shows where people might stop.These places include the exposed underground water tank, the benches and the stairs where people can sit

VEHICLE

This diagram shows the potential routes for vehicles, the entering point for cars and bicycles is located at southeast corner of the site, which is the existing entering point to the site. The cycling path in front of the children's center is designed for children's cycling activities. The existing cycling path next to the canal will be incorporated into the design.
